FYI: A buddy of mine bought
a gIGI wide angle lens last year to use for skydiving. That is how I came to be
familiar with the lens. Last year, we compared the resulting video quality of
his "gigi wide angle lens" with the lens I currently own ("Waycool" lens purchased
from Cookie Composites in Australia: singe element, low profile, 0.3x magnification,
no fisheye or wide angle effect, cost = $200). The comparison was made using the exact same
camcorders (Sony HC40 miniDV). Also, we made the comparison shooting video in
identical conditions (i.e. we were both shooting video on the same skydive).
The difference in video quality
was very distinct. The "gigi wide angle lens" had far better color saturation. Also,
the superior light gathering ability of the gigi wideangle resulted in less grainy
video in low light situations. And finally, the distortion at the edges of the
frame were basically nonexistent for the gigi wide angle - compared to the high
distortion and lack of focus at the edges for the Waycool.
All-in-all, the gigi wide angle lens
is hands-down a far better lens and value than the Waycool lens! I look forward
to shooting some seriously cool video in my future skydiving adventures!
Thanks!

I own several different camera's.
2 camcorders, and 2 SLR film camera's. I was told by one of your customer care
sales reps that I'd be able to use this one lens on all four camera's. Sure
enough, I did use the lens on all my camera's and it works great! Thank you.
